“what movies or tv series have you watched more than 5 times?”

I love this question. It’s refreshing to write about such a light topic that doesn’t require a whole lot of brain power! For me, I don’t know if I have any shows that i’ve rewatched more than twice, however, movies is a different story. I have so many favorites, but I do have one that takes the cake.

Sixteen candles – A John Hughes film, an 80’s classic. My mom showed me this movie many years ago the night before my 13th birthday, and it’s now become tradition that I watch that movie the night before my birthday every year. For context, I am now 19. But even more than that, I always reach for this movie when i’m feeling lost in what to watch (all the time). Therefore, it truly has become my number one comfort movie. It’s lighthearted, witty, romantic, charming, and hilarious. Truly, this movie is iconic; the nostalgia, the coming of age atmosphere, and the overall adolescents takes me to a place of joy. Some of my other classic favorites include Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, National Lampoon’s Vacation, The Devil Wears Prada, Steel Magnolias, and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. The list can go on forever, but for me, Sixteen Candles takes is unmatched.

Like I said, TV shows are normally more one and done for me. However, Sex and the City is one that I constantly find myself turning on. My love for that series will truly grow old. But, if I get into how much impact that show has, then this post will get to be an entire novel. So, more on that one later.

Overall, all my television picks never get old, but, Sixteen Candles wins in my heart. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend. And I promise you will not be disappointed, especially if you are a girl who writes in a diary with glitter gel pens.

Similarly, the cast of this movie contains actors known as “The Brat Pack”, you can find them in other movies such as The Breakfast Club, The Outsiders, Pretty In Pink, etc. Bottom line, growing up with this classic still has the power to make me smile, cringe, and feel the teenage dynamic. It’s one of those films that you never really outgrow; and I wouldn’t want to, it truly is timeless and spectacular.
