How do you define success in life?

“Success” is a very loose term. Someone who’s been in prison for 30 years and is now getting out would call that success, someone being made partner at a law firm would call that success, someone who had the strength to get out of their bed this morning would call that success. And every single reason deserves celebration.
To me, success comes from my mental health. Nothing in my life could change for weeks, but somedays feel successful and some feel like epic failures. I define success as contentment; safety. Because even in the days that I either feel successful or like a failure, it’s the other days where I don’t feel anything that feel the most sane.
Happiness manifests in so many ways, but aside from happiness, success sprouts from continuing to swim. Continuing to do things that make yourself proud not in comparison to everyone else. We always here the quote “Comparison is the thief of joy”, to me this quote is the definition of success. Learning and realizing how to find pat on the back moments in life within your own creations and accomplishments, despite what anyone else says or does.
